John Nesbitt Large Format |
John Nesbitt photographs with the hand-crafted field cameras, which he designs and makes in a converted blacksmith's shop attached to his Welsh home. Trained in fine art, Bath Academy 1967, he has been involved in commercial and theatre photography, taught at Montgomery Technical College and conducted many workshops and seminars. The pictures for Mutatis Mutandis, Aspects of Welsh Landscape, were made with a 10 x 8 camera, built with the help of a special project grant from the Welsh Arts Council. The field testing of this camera, proved the impetus to build cameras for photographers who wanted to move up format, but could not find makers of 10 x 8 cameras. For his most recent work - The Old Metal Mines of Mid Wales, he has developed a new lightweight view camera. John now lives and works in France.
Synopsis of previous workshops:
An
essentially "hands on" workshop, John will demonstrate and explain all you need
to know about large format camera operation, and expel the myths surrounding
them. Along with getting the most out of film exposure with a simple to
understand system, he will delve into fine printing controls. (Cameras can be
supplied)
