Stephen Webster

Stephen’s paintings have an emotional and aesthetic impact akin to that of music. Done without theories, his work combines spontaneous invention with formal qualities. They explore diversity within unity, and above all, they celebrate colour, and its power to affect us in mysterious ways.

Formerly a Fellow in Painting at the Bath Academy of Art, Stephen studied art at Leeds University and Chelsea School of Art. He won second prize in the 1975 Windsor and Newton Award, and was awarded the Boise Scholarship for travel in Italy. He has work in private collections.
